Over the course of history, there have been countless models that have changed the face of the game. The likes of Kate Moss, Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, and Gigi Hadid have all taken the fashion world by storm. However, it’s fair to say that there is a whole other generation of models who seem to have been left behind in history.
They have fallen into the shadows of these fresh faces, and many people have forgotten about them. Although this seemed to be the case for Christy Turlington, she then surprised us all when she hit the runway for the first time since the ‘90s.
Who Is She?
Christy Turlington is an American model who made her debut when she was just 14 years old. She was discovered while she was riding a horse in Florida, and at that moment her life changed forever.
Although she continued with her studies, she worked as a model on the side and soon made it her mission to pursue a full-time career. After moving to New York, she worked for major brands and companies while also obtaining her bachelor’s degree, and before she knew it, she was one of the most famous models in the world.
Her Last Appearance
Although she was one of the biggest names of the 1990s, Christy Turlington made her last runway appearance during a Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis show.
She decided that it was her time to leave the industry, and she wore an epic grunge look to say her goodbyes to the fashion world. She then worked on other projects and retreated out of the spotlight for 20 years. However, in 2019, she decided to make her comeback, and she did just that.
Christy Turlington And Marc Jacobs
Despite the fact that Christy is 20 years out of practice, she looked as fabulous as ever when she walked in the Marc Jacobs runway in February 2019. She donned a beautiful feather cocktail dress for the occasion and topped off this outfit with a black fascinator and matching boots. While she was wearing minimal makeup for her runway return, it’s fair to say that she didn’t need it. At 50 years old, she’s more beautiful than ever.
Christy made her return to show her daughter that there are positive female role models in the world, and we think she did an awesome job.
