This year’s awards season wouldn’t have been complete without the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. The SAGs, as they have come to be known, are a place of glamor and red carpet moments of glory. To some, at least. Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz was one of those who stunned everyone both with her dress choice and the accessories she paired it with.

Zoe turned heads and hearts with an Oscar de la Renta strapless peach column gown finished with an elegant waist bow in the same color. She channeled Old Hollywood fashion and completed the look with an accessory that has been making a slow but steady comeback at the SAG and other recent events: yes, we’re talking about her chic, long, white opera gloves. Some even recognize Jackie Kennedy Onassis in Zoe’s fashion choice.
Opera gloves were the highlight of the 50s and 60s, but who said they couldn’t make a comeback in current fashion? Last November, Beyonce paired her colorful Jeux de Mains suit with matching printed gloves. And then, the Fall runway shows were quick to pick up on this trend by including the accessory in their lines. The likes of Max Mara, Ralph Lauren, and Balmain were some of the first labels to offer their own opera glove versions. And then, Lil Nas X made a fashion statement at the 2020 AMAa with her zebra-printed gloves in neon green.

Yet, Kravitz’s more classical take on this trend looks and feels both timeless and refreshing. She was a vision in peach and white with subtle Tiffany jewels that paid true homage to the Hollywood style icons of the 20th century. Zoe had just the right dose of vintage flair that made her SAG appearance one to remember. Following classic fashion rules, isn’t so bad after all.
