Over the past few months or so, the Extinction Rebellion has made waves across the globe. In an effort to make people aware of the impact the human race has on the environment and climate change, they have congregated in city squares, they have taken over airports, and they have tried to get the word out there. In recent months, they have made it their mission to take over the fashion world and let people know that a large portion of this industry is unsustainable.

Causing A Scene

In February 2019, the activist group attended the London Fashion Week and formed a human blockade around the many venues to highlight the fact that the fashion industry has a huge carbon footprint. They have also written an open letter to the British Fashion Council with demands that the whole event should be scrapped in the future. In their eyes, they want high-profile designers and fashion houses to showcase the struggles of this planet, and to work together to highlight the climate emergency that we are living in. So far, it seems as though the BFC isn’t any closer to removing the Fashion Weeks from their roster.

The world is changing dramatically, and although more and more people realize the effects of fashion on the world, the Extinction Rebellion want people to take it one step further.
