This Saturday, 274 36th Street in Sunset Park will witness a wide range of fashion junkies in search of their next great buy. The occasion is called ‘A Current Affair,’ a traveling vintage extravaganza which will make a stop in Brooklyn. Twice a year, the occasion lures in fashion icons like Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Ulla Johnson, and Calvin Klein creative director, Pieter Mulier, to an industrial warehouse close to the river. The event will host roughly 150 vendors from across the globe and be tagged on Instagram as the #bestvintageunderoneroof.
Eveliina Vintage
Although rain is predicted on this week’s weather forecast, Eveliina Eva Musacchia, who will be coming in from Miami, guarantees one bright spot thanks to her exciting collection of candy-colored dresses, delicate lace lingerie, and irresistible whisper thin bias-cut gowns.
Desert Vintage
Notorious for its extraordinary period pieces of 19th-century embroidered coats, Victorian-style blouses, and 1930-silk chiffon frocks, Desert Vintage is a small Tuscon boutique run by talented designers Salima Boufelfel and Roberto Cowan.
Front General Store
If you’re looking for the perfect pair of jeans, search no longer and head over to Brooklyn’s Fron General Store, which offers over 100 different types of vintage Levi’s. Denim isn’t the store’s only forte – the three Japanese founders offer a knockout collection of rare classics such as shrunken cotton camisoles, softly striped boiler suits, French military jackets, belted Burberry trenches, and much more!
Silk & Rope
It’s not much of a surprise that the eternal boho girl, Florence Welch, is more than not spotted in a gorgeous dress not far from the East London archive studio, Silk & Rope. She and her husband, who started the line, are Native Barcelonans and notorious for their ravenous scavenging episodes throughout Portobello Road and far-flung locations for the great hand-embroidered pieces. Some of those pieces include Japanese silk robes, beaded Spanish blouses, tasseled Romanian pieces, and others unimaginable.
